15 things to do in Paris
Location: Walking along the Seine
Description: There is nothing more peaceful than a morning walk around Paris, when the sun starts to come up. It’s very picturesque and there is no wrong turn to take, because the beauty of Paris can be found anywhere. However, walking along the river is one of my favorites!
Location: Montmatre, Paris (The love Wall)
Description: Le mur des je t'aime, or in English, The Love Wall, is a piece of art, which contains the saying „I love you“, in 311 languages. It’s located in a little garden in the trendy neighborhood of Montmatre. Perfect place for some romance in Paris!
Location: Castle Versailles
Description: It’s worth taking a little trip outside of Paris to see this magnificent and historic castle. The inside is breathtakingly beautiful, but so are the meticulous gardens surrounding the castle.
Location: Eiffel Tower
Description: This quintessential Parisian monument can’t be missed, even if you stray from the typical tourist places. The restaurant Jules Verne, inside the Eiffel Tower, is worth visiting at any given time, but make sure to reserve at least 1-2 months in advance, once the borders open up again.
Location: Sacre Coeur
Description: Sacre Coeur is a beautiful basilica on top of a hill, overlooking the neighborhood of Montmatre. There is a little tram that takes you to the top, and admission is free.
Location: The Louvre
Description: As one of the most important art museums in the world, the Louvre hosts the famous Mona Lisa and prides itself in its vast and impressive collection. It’s recommended to buy tickets ahead a time, and get into one of the side entrances, rather than the main entrance, where the line can get miles long, even before opening time!
Location: Laduree (pastry shop)
Description: One of the best shops for macaroons. When you are in Paris, it is a must-try to enter at least one of the famous pastry shops, to try a macaroon or two. Laduree is an outstanding choice!
Location: La’Avant Comptoir
Description: Anthony Bourdain ate here for a reason. It’s a lovely little tapas and wine bar with incredible food and an enormous wine selection. The decor is humorous, with drawings and writings on its walls, as depicted below.
Location: The Seine
Description: A beautiful thing to do in Paris, especially at sunset, is to embark on a dinner-river cruise. While the sun is still out, you get to see the most famous sights from the water, and then enjoy the city’s lights after dark. The Eiffel Tower’s lillumination is just one of the highlights.
Location: Galeries Lafayette
Description: It’s the French version of Harrods in England. This department store is huge, and even if you are just looking around, it’s worth a visit. In the end, you can go to the very top and enjoy a rewarding view of Paris!
Location: Academie Nacionale de Musique (almost across from Galeries Lafayette)
Description: Also known as the opera! I highly recommend taking a tour of the inside, and in the future, watching a performance at the opera. The building itself is picture-worthy and one of the most charming ones in Paris.
Location: Arc de Triomphe
Description: Perfect starting point for a stroll along Champs-Elysees. The area is always busy, so be aware of the traffic, but nonetheless, enjoy this truly grand sight!
Location: Ponte Alexandre III
Description: This bridge makes for a great walk with views. It is one of the prettiest bridges in Paris and worth seeing. It exists since 1900 and meets all the requirements for a love confession or straight-up proposal!
Location: Le Marais
Description: This is a fantastic neighborhood for eating different cuisines, exploring art galleries, and shopping, of course! It’s especially known for its unique shops, unlike many others in Paris, and you can book a walking tour, if you want to learn more about the history of this district.
